A Girl With Style is growing so much! I am so happy with the positive direction that we are heading in! This month, I had the honor to put a spotlight on a striving star in our community. I decided to do “A Girl With Style of the Month” to highlight a woman that has goals, ambitions, accomplishments as well as sickening STYLE!
A Girl With Style March 2016
Dr. Brittny Wells, is a 27-year-old full-time faculty member at the Florida State University in the Department of Behavioral Science and Social Medicine College of Medicine. She graduated from The Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a Doctorate in Public Health degree in 2015, after attaining both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Even with all of these accomplishments, Dr. Wells is a force that won’t be stopped. When interviewing this Girl With Style, she began to express her passion about the upcoming projects she has been working on. 
What are your NEW projects?
She is currently working on academic research publications in the areas of:
- Health behaviors in minority communities;
- Women of higher socioeconomic status; and
- Maternal and infant health.
She is also in the process of creating her own blog and has been working with Patrice Tartt as a mentor. Since the interview Dr. Wells pitch was accepted for publication by BET.com! CONGRATS!!!!
BUT WHAT ABOUT HER STYLE????
Dr. Wells explains her style as Geeky Chic. She cannot leave the house without at least a pair of earrings and eyebrows that are on fleek! She prefers to buy pieces that are of high quality but at great prices. She shops by the creed, “Look like your price tag and not your receipt”. When I asked her what her aspiring look was, she described it as a young Kerri Washington. Her vision came together when she told that her favorite brands are BCBG, The Limited and Vintage Shops. A must-have piece for Dr. Wells are FURS, fabric with texture, and flare skirts.
WHY ARE YOU A GIRL WITH STYLE?
Dr. Wells is “A Girl With Style” because she keeps an open mind. She describes AGWS as not only FLY, but she has to have SUBSTANCE, be a JILL OF ALL TRADES, and have working knowledge of many topics. It is important to be well-rounded, so be able to back up your look with something substantial.

WORK HARD AND PLAY HARD!!!
Dr. Wells finds a release by traveling monthly, but she doesn’t neglect work while on trips. She conducts specific stops that involve community outreach. Now, of course shopping is always a method for AGWS to play hard. Dr. Wells admitted that she does plenty of that.
Being in the presence of Brittny I can tell that she loves living in the moment. Dr. Wells is a force to be reckoned with and being the first doctor in her family she still has a 5 year plan to own properties, be in a tenure-earning faculty position, and become an owner of various companies. She also has aspirations of opening birthing centers in low-income communities. The purpose of this is to help inform women of color on their birthing options as well as increase education on natural births.
Dr. Wells Life Creed is to
” Leave a Legacy”
and she is well on her way to doing that!
